Late one sweltering spring day in 1947, Charleston, South Carolina, a baby girl named Glory is born to middle-aged June Jackson and Preston Billings. June figured the birth of Glory would finally force her fifty-year old beau into marriage. Two years later when John is born to the couple, Preston decides to split for more freedom leaving June to care for two little ones. Rage bills in June so she takes out her frustration on Glory.
Desperately wanting to forgive her mother of the cruelty inflicted upon her, Glory continues to suffer nightmares. Her chronic heart condition is a constant reminder of the most horrendous night of her life. Presumably surviving this ordeal, Glory is left emotionally shaken to the point that whenever it rains, that night haunts her like a restless ghost, ever reminding her of the atrocity inflicted upon her.

Very interesting characters, especially,the main one.
A lady,who found the good in everyone & was tortured by many.
Get out your hanky, you'll need it.
Read in one sitting,a real page turner!
The plot/story line was very good but I thought the writing was a bit jerky; the flow just did not seem smooth to me. The writer is certainly talented and I'm sure the writing will get better and better. I did enjoy the book and the writer did a good job making me feel for the main character.
